New Delhi, December 21: The Tis Hazari court of Delhi on Saturday dismissed the bail application of Bhima Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad alias Ravana in the Daryaganj violence case. The court has sent Ravana to 14 days judicial custody. In- camera hearing was held on Ravana’s bail plea.
Police produced Chandrasekhar before Duty Magistrate Arjinder Kaur. During the hearing, the police shifted all the reporters outside the court room. However, the reporters were later allowed inside. In the court room, the judge told that these hearings are happening in-camera. During, in-camera hearing, apart from both the parties, no third party is allowed present in the court.
It is noteworthy that the Bhim Army organized a march in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on Friday. The police did not allow it. On Friday evening during march when the police tried to take him into custody, he dodged and fled away the spot. Delhi Police detained Chandrasekhar from near Jama Masjid on Saturday morning and was arrested after interrogation. Police suspect that Ravana instigated the protesters near Daryaganj. The crowd then turned violent.
