Patna, June 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Net Zero Green Campus of Nalanda University of Bihar. After the inauguration, the glory of this university has returned after 800 years. CM Nitish, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and others were present with PM Modi.
As part of the initiative to re-establish the glory of the ancient Nalanda University, the new campus of Nalanda University was inaugurated on Wednesday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar. On this occasion, in his inaugural speech, Modi said that the way Bihar is moving ahead on the path of development to bring back its glory, this campus of Nalanda is an inspiration for that. Nalanda is an identity, an honour. Nalanda is a value, a mantra, a pride, a saga.
The Prime Minister said that Nalanda is the proclamation of the truth that books may burn in the flames of fire but the flames cannot erase knowledge. On this occasion, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and ambassadors of 17 countries and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Governor Vishwanath Rajendra Arlekar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Chaudhary participated in the program.
The Prime Minister said that we all know that Nalanda was once a living center of India’s tradition and identity. This is India’s thinking about education. Education shapes us, gives us ideas and gives it shape. Children were not admitted to ancient Nalanda on the basis of their identity, their nationality. Youth from every country and every class came here to study. In this new campus of Nalanda University, we have to strengthen the same ancient system again in a modern form and I am happy to see that many students have started coming here from many countries of the world today. Students have started coming here from many countries of the world. Students from more than 20 countries are studying in Nalanda. What a beautiful symbol of the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
He said, ’21st June is International Yoga Day. Today hundreds of forms of yoga are present in India. Our sages must have done a lot of research on this but no one had a monopoly on yoga. Today the whole world is adopting yoga, Yoga Day has become a global celebration.
The new Nalanda University has been built at the foothills of Vaibharagiri, one of the five hills of Rajgir. The new campus of Nalanda University has been constructed on a huge plot of land of 455 acres.
The new campus has a total of 24 big buildings, a residence hall with a capacity of 450, Tathagata residence hall for women, shopping complex and food court, a reservoir of 40 hectares, an akhara, meditation hall, an auditorium with a capacity of 300, yoga complex, sports stadium, outdoor sports stadium with athletic track, gymnasium, hospital, traditional ahar-pain water network, solar farm etc.
