RG Kar Medical College case: CBI files charge sheet, names Sanjay Roy as prime accused in rape and murder of female trainee doctor

Kolkata, 07 October: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

According to sources, in this chargesheet, the Central Investigation Agency has registered the name of only Sanjay Roy as the main accused. On Monday, the CBI lawyer reached the Sealdah court with this charge sheet.

The charge sheet lists the names of the main accused of rape and murder. Attempts to destroy evidence and other allegations have also been mentioned. In the charge sheet it is also stated that what information was obtained during the interrogation and who was saying what?

The charge sheet was filed 58 days after the death of the female doctor. Since this incident, junior doctors of various medical colleges of the state have been continuously demanding justice. Their hunger strike and demonstration continues. Even junior doctors have expressed displeasure about the CBI’s investigation process. Some time ago he protested outside the CBI office and sat on a dharna. Junior doctors said that now they are not able to trust CBI. Meanwhile, the first charge sheet that reached the court on Monday has given a new twist to the case.

However, the junior doctors have not yet made any official comments on the CBI’s charge sheet. Junior doctors held a presser from the hunger platform in Dharmatala on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the representative of the agitators, Debashish Haldar, said, “The information we have received through the media is only a preliminary charge sheet. We are not able to comment on this right now. We will talk to our lawyers and then give our response.”

So far, only one person is the main accused in the rape and murder of the female doctor, who was arrested by the Kolkata Police before the CBI probe into the case. After this CBI arrested two more people in this case. Sandeep Ghosh, the then Principal of RG Tax and Abhijeet Mandal, the then OC of Tala Thane. However, he has been arrested on charges of trying to destroy evidence.
