Lucknow, November 29: Principal Chief Commissioner Central Goods and Services Tax Pramod Kumar and Commissioner State Tax Dr. Nitin Bansal, who were chairing the sixth meeting of the Uttar Pradesh GST Grievance Redressal Committee on Friday, said that the traders of Uttar Pradesh will soon get relief from penalty and interest on old mistakes made in GST.
Responding to a question of Manish Khemka, member of GST Grievance Redressal Committee, Commissioner State Tax Dr. Nitin Bansal said that the state government has issued an ordinance to conditionally waive interest and penalty on outstanding tax from the year 2017 to 2020.
Its government order is available and GSTN is making necessary technical provisions in this regard. With this, an online form will soon be available to the traders. They can apply for this exemption.
Khemka welcomed this decision and its immediate compliance and said that this step of Modi-Yogi government will increase trust and cooperation among traders, which will make it easier to achieve the target of one trillion dollar economy in Uttar Pradesh.
CA Reena Bhargava, a member of the committee, informed the officials about many technical problems. The officials of Ramnagar Industrial Association, who joined the meeting online, said that the department officials are monitoring the steel and pan masala units 24 hours a day, along with this they should also check the goods coming from other states. This will ensure that goods without bills are not sold in the state. Various problems related to GST were discussed in the meeting, the solution of which was assured by the officials present.
Many representatives including CGST Additional Commissioner Rituraj Gupta, SGST Joint Commissioner Harilal Prajapati, Assistant Amar Agarwal, Manish Kataria and CA Rishabh Mishra were present in the meeting.
