Gurugram, 19 December: The Gurugram Police has busted a gang that cheated American nationals in the name of providing technical support by creating a fake portal of an accounting company from a fraud call center, police said.
Police has arrested 18 accused including 8 girls from the spot. 17 CPUs have also been recovered from their possession.
The Cyber โโCrime South Police team had received tip-off through reliable sources that citizens of USA are cheated by running a call center in an illegal/fake manner in plot number-270 of Udyog Vihar Phase-2. This cheating is done in the name of providing customer service.
Assistant Police Commissioner Cyber โโCrime Priyanshu Diwan told on Thursday that a raid was conducted at the mentioned place. During this, the call center was found to be operating in a fake/illegal manner. During investigation it was found that fraud is being committed in the name of providing technical support to foreign nationals. 18 accused including the call center manager and eight girls were arrested from the spot.
Youth from many states used to work in fake call center
The accused arrested from the call center by the police team have been identified as Gaurav Bakshi resident of Jaggi Colony (Ambala), Devashish Chatterjee resident of Uttam Nagar (Delhi), Anmol resident of Sector-15 Rohini (Delhi), Kanishk Narula resident of Karol Bagh (Delhi), Ajeesh Mathew resident of Sector-84 (Faridabad), Kunal resident of Patna (Bihar), Devendra Devgan resident of Samta Colony Bhilai (Chhattisgarh), Hitesh Malik resident of JJ Colony Uttam Nagar (Delhi), Rohit Singh resident of Seemapuri (Delhi), Aryaman Thakur resident of Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), Nidhi resident of Uttam Nagar (Delhi), Sita resident of JDA Colony Jaipur (Rajasthan), Muskan Rajput resident of Hedgewar Colony District Raisina (Madhya Pradesh), Bhavana resident of Sector-7 Rohini (Delhi), Shivani resident of Lanka Colony District Baran (Rajasthan), Lahinganeht Haikip resident of village Seelan Bangfazol Churachandpur (Manipur), Sharon and The accused was identified as Nagmathingcho resident village Nagimu district Ukhrul (Manipur).
The police registered a case against the accused under various sections in the police station Cyber โโCrime South and arrested them. During police interrogation, it was found that the accused Gaurav Bakshi is the manager of this call center. He runs this call center along with his associates/employees at the behest of his other partner. The call center manager used to get a salary of about Rs 1.5 lakh and his other employees used to get a salary of about Rs 30 thousand per month.
They were doing this fraud since February-2024
The manager revealed that he has been doing this work along with his associates since February-2024. These people cheat foreign citizens in the name of providing customer care service of software support, accounting support. They used to run ads on Google from the customer care helpline number of a well-known company.
