‘Mahatari Vandan Yojana’ fraud incident in my name in Chhattisgarh is unfortunate: Sunny Leone

Raipur, 24 December: Bollywood actress Sunny Leone has reacted to the release of funds for ‘Mahatari Vandan Yojana’ in Chhattisgarh by posting on social media.

Sunny Leone has posted on social media Instagram on Tuesday and wrote, “It is unfortunate that an incident of fraud has taken place in Chhattisgarh regarding my name and identity. The Mahtari Vandan Yojana has been created with the aim of empowering and benefiting women, but some people are misusing it. I strongly condemn such an incident and assure that if the agency needs any help in the investigation, I will fully cooperate with them.”

It is worth mentioning that in Chhattisgarh, a youth from Bastar, Virendra Kumar Joshi, was fraudulently taking advantage of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana in the name of Bollywood actress Sunny Leone.

An FIR has been lodged against him and he has been arrested. Also, his bank account has been seized and action is being taken to recover the amount paid. In this case, the concerned Anganwadi worker Vedmati Joshi has been dismissed for serious negligence and supervisor Prabha Netam and project officer Jyoti Mathrani have been suspended. An explanation has also been issued to the then District Program Officer.
