Law student commits suicide in hostel room of pvt university in Lucknow

Lucknow, January 10: A female law student, 20, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan on Friday in her hostel room of private university in Lucknow, police said.

As per the police, the body of a student was found hanging from a noose in a hostel room in a private university in the district on Friday morning. She has committed suicide in the room. The Chinhat police station, which reached the spot on information, has seized a suicide note and the student’s mobile from the spot and started further investigation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police East Shashank Singh said that the BA LLB second year student has been identified as Akshita Upadhyay (20) from Mathura. She was living in room number 308 on the third floor of the fourth block of the hostel built on the campus here. Seema and Alisha Khan also live with her. On Friday morning, Alisha knocked on the door of Akshita’s room. No sound came from inside. When the door did not open, Alisha informed Assistant Warden Deepti Mishra on the suspicion of some kind of mishap. When they got the door opened with the help of the watchman, they saw that Akshita’s body was hanging from the fan.

DCP told that the police arrived on the information, took the body in their custody and searched the room. The police found a suicide note and a mobile from the room, which they have seized and started further investigation. The student who was staying with her in the room is also being questioned after informing the family about the incident.
