Lucknow, January 31: Two accused have been arrested during a police encounter in the PGI police station area on the Thursday late night. During this, a miscreant has been shot in the leg. Both the accused are brother-in-laws. Police is investigating the matter.
Deputy Commissioner of Police East, while giving information to media on Friday, said that a girl had given a complaint. She told that on the night of January 27, she was going out of the house with her friend, near Sainik Nagar Sparsh Clinic, unknown bike riders molested her and snatched her mobile phone and ran away. Police registered a case and started searching for the miscreants on the basis of CCTV footage.
On January 30, the station in-charge was conducting a checking drive in Vrindavan area with the police force. During this, two persons came on a bike, when an attempt was made to stop them, they fired at the police with the intention to kill. The police also fired at the bike riders for self-defense, in which one of the accused got shot in the leg. The other youth was also arrested. The injured has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The police have identified these criminals as Jitendra Kumar Rawat, resident of Unnao district and Sunny Gautam, resident of Ashiana, Lucknow. Both the accused Jitendra and Sunny are brother-in-laws. Apart from the looted mobile, a pistol with live cartridges and a motorcycle have been recovered from the accused. The police is taking action against the accused as per the rules.
