FM Nirmala Sitharaman tables the Economic Survey 2024-25 in Parliament

New Delhi, January 31: The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday presented the Economic Survey 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the first day of the budget session.

After the joint address of the President in Parliament, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned till 11 am on February 1. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2025-26 in Parliament on Saturday.

Before the Union Budget 2025-26 of the third term of the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is presented on Saturday, the Union Finance Minister presented the Economic Survey 2024-25 in both the Houses of Parliament. It presents an official assessment of the performance of the economy in the current financial year.

The Economic Survey describes the challenges facing the country along with an assessment of the performance of the economy in the current financial year.

The Economic Review is an annual document, which the government presents to review the state of the economy before the Union Budget. It also provides a blueprint for reforms and development.

This survey has been prepared by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs under the leadership of Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) V Anantha Nageswaran.

The first Economic Survey was presented in 1950-51. At that time it was a part of the budget document, which was separated from the Union Budget in the 1960s and started being presented a day before the budget.
