New Delhi, February 1: Dr M. Raghavaiah, General Secretary of the National Indian Railway Employees Federation (NFIR) on Saturday expressed disappointment over the Union Budget 2025-26 presented by the Finance Minister in Parliament. He said that this budget has failed to solve the real problems of the general public of the country and especially the working class.

The General Secretary of NFIR said that the main objective of the budget proposals is to promote rapid privatization by monetizing government assets and handing them over to private companies. He said that there is no proposal to set up new industrial units in this budget, due to which no concrete steps have been taken for employment generation in the government and Indian Railways.

He said that while speaking on the budget proposals, the Finance Minister did not give any assurance to release the frozen dearness allowance (DA-DR) for central government employees and pensioners. He said that no concrete measures have also been taken to reduce the inflation rate and control the rise in prices of essential commodities.

Dr. Raghavaiah said that the government has also failed to solve the issues related to safety in the Indian Railways, as no steps have been taken to remove the ban on vacant posts in the railways.

He said that the continuous cut in expenditure issued by the Finance Ministry has adversely affected the Railway Ministry, due to which the Railway Ministry is not able to meet the necessary costs of maintenance and operation.
