Budget session: Yogi government tables historic budget of over lakh crores

Lucknow, 20 February: Yogi government presented a historic budget of Rs 8 lakh 8 thousand 736 crore 6 lakh for the financial year 2025-2026 in the assembly. This is the biggest budget so far in the history of Uttar Pradesh. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented it as an important step towards the economic development and social welfare of the state.

He said that this budget is 9.8 percent more than the budget of the year 2024-2025, which will accelerate the economic growth of the state. New schemes worth Rs 28 thousand 478 crore 34 lakh (Rs 28,478.34 crore) have been included in the budget.

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that this budget has been prepared keeping in mind the economic strength of the state, industrial development and employment generation. The government’s goal is to move rapidly towards making Uttar Pradesh a 5 trillion dollar economy. In this mega budget of the Yogi government, 22 percent has been allocated for infrastructure development, 13 percent for education, 11 percent for agriculture and allied services, 6 percent in the field of medical and health, 4 percent for social security programs and resources. The capital outlay in the budget is about 20.5 percent of the total budget.

Promoting infrastructure and investment The government has set aside 22 percent of the budget to strengthen the infrastructure in the state. In this, priority has been given to schemes like road construction, industrial expansion, transport system and attracting investment.

Big investment in the field of education The Yogi government has set aside 13 percent of the budget for the education sector to further strengthen education. It proposes to set up ICT labs and smart classes in primary and higher secondary schools. Also, there is a plan to start digital library and smart classes in government polytechnic colleges. Apart from this, special schemes are proposed in the budget to promote research and development in the state.

Promotion of Artificial Intelligence and Cyber ​​SecurityTo make Uttar Pradesh a technological hub, the Yogi government has proposed to start many new schemes through the budget. In this, ‘Artificial Intelligence City’ will be established, which will make the state a center of technological innovation. Also, there is a plan to establish Technology Research Translation Park in Cyber ​​Security, which will promote digital security. There is also a proposal to establish a Center of Excellence to promote Artificial Intelligence.

Science and innovation will be encouraged The government has taken important steps to promote science and research in the state. This includes the establishment of Science City, Science Park and Planetariums and the action plan for the renovation of old institutions. Special attention will be given to providing modern scientific facilities to the students.

Smart City Development Project The Finance Minister said that 58 municipal bodies of the state will be developed as ‘Adarsh ​​Smart Nagar Nigam’. In this, an amount of Rs 2.50 crore will be provided to each municipal body, from which a total of Rs 145 crore will be spent. Modern facilities, technological innovation and sanitation management will be given priority in these cities.

New schemes for workers The Finance Minister said that Kamgar-Shramik Depots will be built in the district headquarters. Facilities like canteen, drinking water, bathroom and toilet will be provided in these. This scheme will prove helpful in improving the employment and living standards of the workers.

Target of poverty eradication under ‘Zero Poverty Abhiyan’ The Finance Minister said that the Yogi government has started the ‘Zero Poverty Abhiyan’ from October 2, 2024. Under this campaign, the poorest families will be identified from every Gram Panchayat of the state. The government aims to bring the annual income of these families to Rs 1,25,000 and meet their basic needs.

UP will become the center of national and global investment. He said that this budget of Uttar Pradesh has been prepared keeping in mind the development of the state, technological advancement, education reform, welfare of the poor and expansion of infrastructure. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state is moving towards modernity, innovation and self-reliance.
