Prayagraj, April 19: The Allahabad High Court has directed the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) to form SIT to find head constable Rajaram Shukla missing for almost two years.

The court said that an affidavit should be filed through a police officer with information about the steps taken by the SIT in the search. The next hearing of the petition will be on April 29. This order has been given by the division bench of Justice Siddharth Verma and Justice VC Dixit while hearing the petition of Lalit Shukla.

On the petition, the advocate said that the missing report of the petitioner’s father Rajaram Shukla, head constable, has been registered in Jaria police station of Hamirpur since August 10, 23. But the police is not making any serious effort to search for his father. On this, the court had sought an affidavit from SP Hamirpur as to why the investigation was being delayed. It was told that the investigation was in progress. But no clue could be found about the missing head constable.

The petitioner says that the family is not even being paid the father’s salary and other benefits. The police is just doing a formality in the name of investigation. On this, the court has directed the Director General of Police to form an SIT and trace the missing head constable.
