Shahjahanpur, 27 April: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday conducted a field inspection of the construction works of Ganga Expressway near village Piru of Tehsil Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur. During this, he also inspected the 3.50 km long newly constructed airstrip.
Chief Minister Yogi said that the decision of Ganga Expressway was taken in the Prayagraj Kumbh of 2019, so that western Uttar Pradesh could be connected to Prayagraj through Ganga Express. This 594 km long, six lane (ready for eight lanes in future) expressway will become an important medium to connect western Uttar Pradesh to Prayagraj. 85 percent of the work of which has been completed.
He said that 18,000 acres of land has been purchased from farmers for the project, which cost Rs 36,230 crore. UPDA has invested in this project and got the construction work done. Ganga Expressway, emerging as the largest expressway in the country, is being constructed in four packages and its work will be completed by November 2025.
He informed that an international level airstrip has been prepared in Shahjahanpur, which can be used for landing and take-off of airplanes in emergency situations. Apart from this, this strip can also be used for ambulance, emergency service.
Ganga Expressway will be connected to Farrukhabad, Agra and Bundelkhand Expressway. Also, many industrial clusters are being developed to promote industrial development along the expressway, which will also create employment opportunities at the local level.
The Chief Minister said that in view of the Maha Kumbh, connectivity projects will also be developed from Meerut to Haridwar, Kashi, Purvanchal, Ghazipur, Shaktinagar and Sonbhadra.
He announced that on May 2, a historic landing show of fighter planes of the Indian Air Force will be organized on the airstrip of Ganga Expressway.
During this, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the thinking of the people of the state has changed in the last eight years. The wheel of development has turned in the state. In other provinces also, people demand a government like Yogi. The Chief Minister has given the gift of more than 12 development works to Shahjahanpur.
Chief Secretary Manoj Singh said that the 594 km Ganga Expressway is built from Meerut district to Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj. On completion of the work on November 2, 2025, it will be inaugurated for the public. The implementing agency of the Ganga Expressway built at a cost of Rs 36,230 crore will have a guarantee of 30 years.
