Lucknow, March 05: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a crucial decision regarding environmental protection, however, under this he has decided to reduce the width of the Indo-Nepal border road while preserving the greenery in the state.
According to the earlier project, about twenty five thousand trees would have to be cut for road construction. This would have affected the environment. Therefore, the Chief Minister directed to reduce the width of the road. Earlier the 7-meter double lane road was to be built, while now the single lane road will be made. This will maintain greenery along the Indo-Nepal border.
According to the state government, on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in view of environmental protection, now the 570 km Indo-Nepal border road will become a single lane. This has saved over 55,000 trees.
The state has a 570 km long Indo-Nepal border with Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Maharajganj and Siddharthnagar. Out of this, 299 km is under the Tiger Reserve, Sanctuary (Wildlife Sanctuary) and Reserved Forest area.

On the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the State Board for Wildlife has reduced the width of the asphalt road from 7 meters to 3.75 meters. In this way, where there will be road construction in view of security, the trees will also be saved from cutting.
