Uttar Pradesh govt declares ‘COVID-19’ an epidemic, schools, colleges closed till March 22

Lucknow, March 13: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that basic, secondary, higher education, technical and skill development institutes will be closed till March 22 in view of to restrain the spread of novel corona virus disease (COVID-19). On March 20, we will once again take stock of the situation.

CM Yogi on Friday held a press conference in Lok Bhavan after a review meeting regarding control of corona virus.

Yogi said that the examinations which were to start in the basic schools have been postponed. However, examinations of various boards will go on as per schedule. After March 23, we will take a decision on this if necessary.

Chief Minister said the state government had already issued guidelines for prevention from corona virus about one and a half months ago.

โ€œWe have trained 4100 doctors and staff personnel to protect from the virus; also, they will sensitize Anganwadi workers and Asha Bahu to the prevention from corona virus. These personnel are trained in this way that they will make people aware about this virus,โ€ Yogi informed.  

Yogi Adityanath added, โ€œThere is a lab in Gorakhpur which will investigate this virus. However, other medical colleges including BHU can implement this facility so that they can take samples for treatment.โ€

11 patients found positive

So far, 11 confirmed corona virus-infected patients have been found in Uttar Pradesh. Ten of these patients are being treated in Delhi while one patient is being treated at King George Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow. The condition of all these patients is stated to be stable.

The patients who have been found infected with COVID-19 including seven patients from Agra, two from Ghaziabad, one from Lucknow and one from Noida.

 4100 doctor were trained

UP government has secured 820 beds in 75 district hospitals. 448 beds in 24 medical colleges, thus isolation wards of 1268 beds have been prepared.

Apart from this, training has been started for doctors, paramedical staff, nursing staff and other personnel in the state. So far, 4100 medical personnel have been trained.

Arrangement for screening at Indo-Nepal Bard

Screening at the borders of India and Nepal is being done with utmost urgency regarding the prevention of corona virus. So far, 12 lakh 28 thousand 303 people have been screened at the border of Nepal. Also, 17048 passengers have been screened at all airports in the state so far.

Mask and sanitizer should not be black marketed

The Chief Minister advised that only those people who need to cover their mouth and nose should wear protective mask. Government medical stores have given instructions to keep sufficient quantity of gloves and masks and also strict instructions related to black marketing of masks and sanitizers should not be done. If any such medical store is found to be indulged in black marketing, then stringent action will be taken against it.

UP’s Parliamentary Affairs and Medical Education Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that corona virus is an epidemic. There is no need to be afraid of this. We are able to overcome it. We have prepared two types of plan regarding Corona virus. In two sides, the first side is to avoid it and then the second side is to treat it. Itโ€™s diagnose is possible. We should make people aware of this and not to create an atmosphere of fear. Alert the people around you, the government is doing the rest.
