Lucknow, April 28: Two priests were brutally murdered inside the temple in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh late last night with sharp weapons. However, the police have arrested the killer, police said.
Chief Minister Yogi took a tough stance on it and directed district administration to take stringent action against the accused.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a tough stand regarding the cold-blooded murder of two sadhus. Taking cognizance of the matter, Yogi directed the District Magistrate (DM), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and other senior officers to reach the spot immediately.
The Chief Minister said that a detailed report should be made regarding the incident and strict action should be taken against the culprits.
Accused was angry with Baba’s rebuke
Bulandshahr’s SSP Santosh Kumar Singh, who reached the spot, said that Sadhu Jagan Das (55) and Sevadas (35) lived at the Shiva temple located in village Pagona in Anupshahar Kotwali. Both sages used to worship in the temple. The accused used to visit this temple. He was addicted to drugs. He had disappeared Baba’s tongs in the past, on which one sadhu had reprimanded him. After this, he went into deep dudgeon and planned to kill them.
Villagers seen him with sword, police arrested the culprit in a state of intoxication
The SSP apprised that on Tuesday morning he killed both the saints with a sword and escaped the scene. The villagers also saw him carrying a sword outside the village. As soon as the matter was to light, the police reached the spot and started the investigation.
After this, on the basis of information received from the villagers, the accused was searched and then he was found in a state of intoxication two kilometers away from the village. He has been arrested, SSP told.
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police, the accused is intoxicated. After he regains his consciousness, the complete statement will be recorded.
He said that there is no problem regarding the law and order in the area.
