New Delhi, 04 May: To deal with the corona crisis in the country, the Central Government activated 92 thousand non-governmental organizations (NGOs) registered on the DARPAN portal, informed Amitabh Kant Chief Excutive Officer (CEO) NITI Aayog on Monday.
โNGOs, business entities and civil society were motivated to play an active role in dealing with the Corona crisis,โ Kant apprised reporters here.
Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog and Chairman of Empowered Group 6 (EG 6) told during a press conference on Monday that NGOs have played an important role in providing food to the trapped labourers in the states due to the enforcement of the countrywide lockdown in wake of Covid-19 outbreak.
Impact seen in 112 aspiration districts
Amitabh Kant said that the positive result of coordination between the NGO and the government has been seen in 112 aspiring districts. 22 percent of the population of the country live in these districts. Due to the awareness program in these districts, only 2 percent of the total corona cases in the country have come from these districts. Except in some of these districts, except Baramulla, Ranchi and Kupwara, only a few cases have been reported in other districts.
Kant also told that awareness is being brought to the society to remove the malaise associated with coronavirus disease in these districts.
