New Delhi, June 22: In the Lt. General level talks held on Monday in Chushul-Moldo area of โโChina, China has confessed to killing of its commanding officer (CO) for the first time in a violent skirmish on 15/16 night in Galwan valley.
In this Commander-level dialogue, India has asked China to first pull back its forces from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh and restore the situation before May 2, only then further talks are possible.
For the first time since bloody face-off between China and India on the night of June 15/16 in the Galwan Valley, the second meeting of the Corps Commander level is taking place in Chushul-Moldo at China area on Monday.
The meeting has been called at the request of China. Lt. Gen. Harinder Singh, the 14 Corps Commander from India, and Major General Liu Lin, the military commander of South Xinjiang from China, are once again sitting face to face at 11.30 am.
This is the second meeting between the two military officers. The talks between these two officials were held on June 6, in which the Chinese side did not abide by the agreement. Due to which the soldiers of India and China clashed in eastern Himalayan region.
Meanwhile, Chinese commander Major General Liu Lin has admitted for the first time that his commanding officer has also died in violent clashes.
But even a week after Galwan’s clash, China was hiding its casualties. Although the number of soldiers killed in the skirmish is still not disclosed by China, it is likely that the commanding officer died it has increased that it may now also reveal the number of soldiers killed in the coming days.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said today about the Commander-level talks in China that they were talking to India only to resolve the dispute.
