Women Power Line-1090 disposed of 68,164 complaints in July

Lucknow, August 06: Women Power Line-1090 in the state of Uttar Pradesh has disposed of 68,164 complaints related to various forms of harassment against women in the last month of July by running a special campaign.

In which, strict legal action has been initiated against such people, who were harassing victims through mobile and electronic devices and social media in 1090 cases of complaints.

Additional Director General (ADG) and Officer-in-Charge Women Power Line (WPL), 1090 Neera Rawat informed that under this campaign 1,64,918 complaints were received in July-2020, out of which 1,05,238 complaints were related to phone bullying and cyber bullying, of which 68,164 complaints has been settled.

“Besides, the remaining complaints are also being disposed of by 1090 on priority. 59,680 complaints found related to stalking and crime has been transferred to district police, GRP and UP 112,” ADG told.

ADG Neera Rawat said that 1090 team, while taking action against 02 vicious criminals who indulge in obscene acts and blackmailing women, case has been registered under different sections of IPC and IT Act against them at Baghraya police station of Pratapgarh district.

“However, the accused were arrested by registering the case. 37 complaints were lodged against these accused from various districts of the state in 1090 by women and girls,” Rawat apprised.

“Out of the complaints lodged in the Women Power Line-1090, in which complaints of harassment were found by the accused even after general counselling then those complaints were resolved by the special team of 1090 through the FFR (Family, Friends and Relative) counselling. In July, out of a total of 435 such complaints, the FFR counselling has given relief to the victims,” ADG WPL said.
