Section 144 imposed in view of Ganesh Chaturthi and Muharram in Lucknow

Lucknow, August 19: No religious processions or religious programs have been allowed in the capital regarding Muharram, Ganesh Chaturthi starting on August 21. In view of this, Section 144 has been implemented in the city.

This order will be effective immediately and will remain in force till September 15, if not withdrawn in between.

Also, action will be taken under Section 188 for violation of this order. This instruction should be strictly followed.

Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Naveen Arora informed that such social, political, cultural, religious programs, processions, rallies, demonstrations, merchant exhibitions etc. will be conditionally banned in the commissionerate. In no such event, a conference of more than five persons will be possible.

Joint Commissioner of Police further told, traditional processions, tazis, majlis, jalas, shabilas will not be organized on the upcoming Moharram. No idol installation and shobha yatras will be allowed in any puja pandal on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Traditional processions or programs on the upcoming festivals will not be held without police permission nor will any new tradition be established.

โ€œIn the same way, โ€˜dharnaโ€™, demonstrations will not be organized by any political party in public places or important places,โ€ said Arora.

He told that no religious venue, public place, procession and other events will be played with loud sound of loud speakers. No sound amplifiers will be used from ten o’clock in the night to six in the morning.

JCP added that in this regard, the traffic should not be carried out in contingent circumstances without obtaining prior permission of the competent authority.

โ€œNo religious, cultural, political or public event shall be held in the risk areas identified in the districts in view of Covid-19 nor will any such event pass through the area, and it will be held guilty of violation of the Pandemic Act,โ€ warned Naveen Arora.

Religion books should not be insulted

He told that no person will insult religious texts of any religion. No religious flags, banners, posters etc. will be placed on religious places and walls, etc nor will anyone helps in this work. No such event shall be organized by the person of the community, contrary to the sentiments of the other community, which is expected to disturb the peace, nor will there be any provocative speech against the religious sentiments of the other community nor the announcement of any such program will be done.
