New Delhi, May 30 : Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for the second term at the forecourts of Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening.
President Ram Nath Kovind administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy to him and other members of Union Council of Ministers. Several high profile leaders graced the occasion. Those who were administered oath of office and secrecy alongwith Modi include – Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Sadananda Gowda, Nirmala Sitharaman, Ram Vilas Paswan, Narendra Singh Tomar, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Smt Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Thawarchand Gehlot, S Jaishankar, Ramesh Pokharial Nishank, Arjun Munda, Smt Smriti Irani, Dr Harshvardhan, Prakash Javdekar, Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Prahlad Joshi, Mahesh Pandey, Arvind Ganapat Sawant, Giriraj Singh, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Rao Indrajit Singh and etc.
Several leaders of BIMSTEC countries and who’s who of the country attended the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi. Congress President Rahul Gandhi, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were also present among others.
 In view of the ceremony, several roads in New Delhi District were closed for movement of the public and motorists and public were advised to avoid them.Roads including Rajpath – from Vijay Chowk to Rashtrapati Bhawan and adjoining areas including North and South fountain, South Avenue, North Avenue, Dara-Shikoh Road and Church Road were closed for public.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his government will leave no stone unturned to safeguard India’s unity and integrity. He said national security is his priority.
Ahead of his swearing-in this evening, Modi visited the National War Memorial at the historic India Gate and paid tributes to the martyrs.
In a tweet, he said India is proud of all those brave men and women martyred in the line of duty.
Earlier this morning, the Prime Minister visited Rajghat and paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
In a tweet, Modi said, this year, the nation marks the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji and prayed that this special occasion further popularise Bapu’s noble ideals and continue inspiring the people to empower the lives of the poor, downtrodden and marginalised.
The Prime Minister also visited ‘Sadaiv Atal Samadhi’ to pay tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He said Atal Ji is remembered every single moment, adding that he would have been very happy to see BJP get such a great opportunity to serve people.
The Prime Minister said, motivated by Atal Ji’s life and work, the government will strive to enhance good governance and transform lives.
