Lucknow,May 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has introduced  nineteen new faces largely depending on old war horses, has not preferred any new comer from Uttar Pradesh, the state which sends the largest contingent to the Lok Sabha and has backed the BJP despite opposition alliance.

The other highlight is  that  Maneka Gandhi who was a minister in the first Modi government  has not founder berth this time. She had swapped seats and given her Pilibhit seat to  son Varun Gandhi. She had successfully contested from Sultanpur seat. Some of her controversial statements might have gone against her.

Manoj Sinha on the other hand who was also a minister could not be accommodated because his defeat from Ghazipur.Successful in 2014 he was defeated by Afzal Ansari this year who had contested on  BSP ticket. His criminal background was clearly ignored by voters.

Out of nine ministers who were sworn- in on Thursday four were given cabinet rank. The cabinet ministers are: Rajnath Singh,Smriti Irani,Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Mahendra Pandey.Smiri was the only woman from the state who was offered berth.
Pandey who contested from Chandauli in the eastern part of the state was president of the state of the BJP.

Rajnath Singh was possibly reappointed a minister mainly because of experience  and Modi’s preference to continuity.Several ministers in his first cabinet  have been given another chance for this reason.

Singh who has served as chief minister of the state had first joined the Union ministry during Atal Bihar Vajpayee’s rule.He has been party’s all-India president twice– from 2005 to 2009 and 2013 to 2014.

Home minister in the previous goverment he may be given some key portfolio again.

Other ministers from UP who were sworn-in by the  President are:Santosh  Kumar Gangwar,Sanjeev Balyan.Hardip Singh Puri,V K Singh and Niranjan Jyoti.

Balyan is a giant killer who defeated RLD president  and former Union minister Ajit Singh in Muzafffarnagar.Singh had shifted to this constituency considering it safe.He had contested and lost from  Baghpat last time.Muzaffarnagar, too, did not prove lucky  for him.
