Mumbai, November 24: The Bombay High Court has issued an order not to arrest film actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel till December 8.
The High Court has also issued an order to both of them to go to Bandra Police Station on December 8 and file a statement.
The Bandra Police Station has so far issued three notices to film actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for questioning in the controversial tweet case.
However, in protest against the notice issued by the police, Kangana Ranaut filed a petition in the Bombay High Court on Monday, demanding the cancellation of the case registered by the police.
The same petition was being heard by judges Justice SS Shinde and MS Karnik on Tuesday.
Kangana’s lawyer Rizwan Merchant called for the police to cancel the case stating that the action was being taken in retaliation, but the High Court has stayed the arrest of Kangana and Rangoli.
The court has issued an order for Kangana and Rangoli to be present on December 8 to file a statement at the Bandra police station.
It is noteworthy that the art director Munavvar Syed had earlier demanded action on the controversial tweet of Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli at Bandra Police Station. After no action, Munawar Syed applied to the Bandra Magistrate Court to take action on the same matter.
The magistrate court had ordered the Mumbai Police to take action by registering a case against Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli.
Subsequently, the Bandra Police Station registered a case against Kangana and Rangoli and both of them were issued notice to appear at the police station three times.
