Indian Air Force to distribute Covid vaccines across the country

More than 100 Indian Air Force aircrafts will airlift vaccine from pharma companies.

Indian Air Force personnel will work like a war to deliver immediate vaccines to remote areas.

New Delhi, 06 December: A comprehensive plan to distribute the Covid-19 vaccine in India is being prepared. Hence, the Indian Air Force personnel will act like a war to deliver the vaccine to remote areas of the country.

The Indian Air Force also has over 100 ships ready to airlift the vaccine from pharma companies. These include helicopters ranging from heavy transport aircraft AN-32, C-130J Super Hercules, Globemaster C-17 and IL-76 aircraft.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a task force to distribute the Covid-19 vaccine in the country, which will have the responsibility of delivering the vaccine to 300 million Indians who come on priority.

According to the plan, one crore doctors, health workers and frontline workers will be vaccinated first.

The Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health have been made part of this task force.

The Air Force has three different types of plans for immediate vaccine delivery to remote areas.

The Air Force is preparing for the delivery of the Kovid-19 vaccine as a war. The standoff with China will not affect the operational readiness of the force when the vaccine-related operation begins.

The Air Force is preparing to deploy transport aircraft C-17 Globemaster, C-30J Super Hercules and IL-76 in the task of picking up the Covid vaccine from pharma companies to cold-chain storage centers. AN-32 and Dornier aircraft will be deployed at smaller centers.

However, preparations are being made to deploy advanced light helicopters (ALH), cheetahs and American Chinook helicopters to carry the vaccine to the end.

The Air Force has prepared 100 aircraft, including its transport plane and helicopter, for the vaccine program. This is not the first time the Air Force will lend a helping hand with vaccine delivery.

Earlier in 2018, the Air Force had been instrumental in taking the Rubella and Measles vaccine to the farthest corners of India.

In an all-party meeting on Thursday to discuss the strategy of distribution of Covid-19 vaccine in the country, the Prime Minister Modi said that currently three different vaccine trials in India are in different stages. Central and state governments are working together to distribute the vaccine and for this, the cold chain system in the country is being strengthened further. The vaccine will be ready in the next few weeks and the vaccination campaign will start in the country as soon as scientists get the green signal.
