Mumbai, 02 January: Politics is getting heated up about the renaming of Aurangabad district in the Maharashtra.
In this case, two allies of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) have come face to face while the Shiv Sena is adamant to change the name of Aurangabad; the Congress party has maintained its protest over the change of name.
Shiv Sena spokesman Sanjay Raut said that Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray had resolved the issue 30 years ago. The dispute is only on paper, it will also be resolved by meeting with the leaders of allies.
However, State Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat has already opposed the renaming of Aurangabad.
Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ashok Chavan said on Saturday that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has not yet spoken on the subject. When the Chief Minister brings this proposal, the Congress will oppose this proposal. Ashok Chavan said that Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP have formed MVA for the development of the state so we should stick to it.
Former Mumbai president Sanjay Nirupam said that the Congress party respected Sambhaji Raje. Sambhaji Raje’s contribution towards the country cannot be forgotten, but the work of MVA is to give importance to development works, it should not be forgotten.
It is noteworthy that Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections are going to be held this year. Therefore, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has issued an ultimatum to the state government demanding that the name of Aurangabad be changed to Sambhaji Nagar by January 26.
The MNS has said that if the name is not changed by January 26, the state government will have to face serious consequences.
On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Chandrakant Patil said that BJP is neutral in this matter.
Patil added further that Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray had raised the issue 30 years ago, so Shiv Sena should clarify its role.
