Lucknow, 13 January: The state government has implemented ‘Covid-19- Ek Musht Samadhan Yojana’ from December 15, 2020 to provide relief to electricity consumers of all commercial, industrial and private institutions in rural and urban areas.
Under this scheme, consumers of above categories have been given 100 percent discount on the amount of surcharge on their electricity dues up to November 30 2020, so that the defaulting consumer can deposit his electricity bill easily. However, this scheme will remain in force till 31 January.
Power and Additional Energy Sources Minister Shrikant Sharma said on Wednesday that there are 6.80 lakh consumers of this category across the state. However, so far only 69,234 consumers have registered to take advantage of this scheme, which is only 10.2 percent of the total defaulters. “Out of these registered consumers, 32,447 have deposited their electricity bills and the department received revenue of Rs 98.38 crore,” Sharma told.
He said that these consumers include 21,115 from Madhyanchal, 19,310 from Purvanchal, 14,844 from Paschimanchal and 13,965 from Dakshinachal. 35.34 crore from Madhyanchal, 34.37 crore from Purvanchal, 18.28 crore from Paschimanchal and Rs. 20.39 crore from Dakshinachal.
The Power Minister has directed to make efforts to take the benefit of the scheme to the consumers to implement the ‘Covid-19 Ek Musht Samadhan Yojana’ effectively.
He told that by visiting the website, the consumer can register for surcharge waiver even while sitting at home. Apart from this, online registration can also be done by visiting the office of Executive Engineer and SDO and CSC centers in rural areas. Along with this, the consumer can also get help by calling on 1912.
He informed that at the time of registration, consumers will have to deposit 30 percent of the original amount displayed in the electricity invoice till November 2020 and with the existing dues after that. At the time of registration, the consumer can see all the details for the registration amount, original bill amount, surcharge exemption, payment status and revised bill.
The Power Minister has directed the Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) that a comprehensive campaign should be carried out to benefit the consumers of the scheme. The progress of the scheme should be reviewed daily. Camps should be organized regularly for consumer registration and bill amendment. He also encouraged consumers of this category to take advantage of the scheme.
