Lucknow, 25 March: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) has arrested a man Sadar Ali, carrying cash reward of Rs 25,000, from Noida, who allegedly supplies fake currency notes to India.
During the interrogation, it has been revealed that he supplies forged notes. Counterfeit notes are printed in Pakistan and supplied to India via Bangladesh. He is also assisted in this work by his wife Mumtaz, who is still absconding.
According to ATS IG GK Goswami, Sadar Ali, a resident of Joypur located in Vaishnavnagar police station in West Bengal, has been arrested from Noida. The reward of 25-25 thousand rupees each was declared on the accused and his wife Mumtal.
The ATS official said that the ATS arrested two accused Tehsin Khan and Wasim Khan on November 1, 2020, last year for smuggling fake currency notes. An Indian counterfeit currency of Rs 597000 was recovered from them. After this, a case was filed against these two in Lucknow.
During the grilling, the accused had stated that he brought fake Indian currency from West Bengal resident Sadar Ali and his wife Mumtaz Begum and supplied it to the areas of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and National Capital Region (NCR). After this, the ATS filed a case against the couple and started their search.
Fake currency has been supplying for a decade
Sadder Ali, nabbed by the ATS, has been supplying Indian counterfeit currency in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and NCR for a decade. This counterfeit currency is manufactured in Pakistan which is brought to India via Bangladesh.
Arrested with fake currency of 15 lakhs
Sadar Ali, arrested from Noida, was caught in 2010 from West Bengal with a fake Indian currency of four lakh rupees. In this case, he spent three months in jail. He started the business again after getting bail and was arrested again in 2010 from the English market in Malda. So far, 15 lakhs of Indian currency was recovered from him.
