Lucknow, 27 March: The Special Task Force (STF-UP) team Uttar Pradesh, with the help of local police, raided different places in the district and recovered a large amount of goods and construction equipment. Eight people have been arrested from the spot.
The STF has claimed that weapons were actually supplied from the same factory during the violence against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).
Superintendent of Police of STF Meerut unit Brijesh Kumar Singh said on Saturday that reports were being received about the involvement of illegal smuggling gangs in western UP districts. After this, a hunt was conducted against these genuine smugglers. In this episode, eight people have been arrested after raiding near Shopix Mall of Holi Chowk, Thana Brahmapuri in TP Nagar police station area, near Mohalla Dhyanchandra, Jungle Village, Samargarden Square.
The accused arrested during the interrogation are Tabaraj alias Tabu, resident of Hiragarden, Shafiq, Bhavendra alias Gullu, Farrukh, Israr, Alihasan, Aqil and Anas. STF has recovered 133 Aslha, 36 live cartridges from illegal weapon factory.
According to SSP Ajay Sahni, during interrogation, the accused admitted that these were being made in view of the panchayat polls. The goods of the four bonafide factories caught in western Uttar Pradesh were supplied from cheap to expensive prices. Apart from these, goods were also consumed in states like Haryana, Rajasthan.
It has been claimed on behalf of STF that during the CAA violence, weapons were used made from these factories. During the operation, the raids were carried out by the STF after questioning about the pistol recovered from the miscreants.
