Lucknow, 23 April: The Uttar Pradesh Police by launching a manhunt, arrested 29 people in connection with the black marketing and hoarding of antiviral drug Remdesivir injections and O2 (Oxygen) cylinders so far, the police said.
Meanwhie, the police have recovered 668 Remdesivir injections, 185 oxygen cylinders and more than nine lakhs cash from their possession. Penal action will be taken against all these under Gangster Act and National Security Act (NSA), Prashant Kumar ADG (L&O) informed in a released statement on Friday.

He said that the weekend curfew that has been imposed to prevent the spread of the global pandemic Covid-19, will start from eight o’clock tonight till Monday morning. During this time, there will be a restriction on the movement of normal vehicles. On Saturday, immunization drive will also be done in full swing, which will be done by the Health Department.
The ADG said that this weekend curfew has been imposed only to break this chain of infection. The risk area, which has been created by the administration and the police, should be strictly followed there. There are about 86.5 thousand hazardous areas in the entire state, in which about 50 thousand people are being made aware about the corona through loud holler, mobile, loud speaker.
โMasks and physical distance are being asked to follow. If people will ignore these things restrictions despite warnings; stern action will be taken against them.
โIf people will be found involved in black marketing or horading of life-saving drugs like Remdesivir injections or O2 cylinders, then penal action will be taken against such persons under the Gangster Act and the NSA,โ added ADG (L&O)
He appealed to all to make full use of the Covid-19 protocols for the prevention of corona epidemic and to help the district administration and health department.
