Kolkata, 07 May: The Union Home Ministry team, which arrived in West Bengal to take stock of the violence after the completion of assembly elections, held talks with the Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar for about one and a half hours on Friday.
The Central Team wandered in the Satgachia area of โโSouth 24 Parganas district and held talks with the families of the violence affected people.
The Central Home Department team reached Raj Bhavan on Friday and met Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.
In the talks that lasted for about one and a half hours, they discussed about violence and law and order situation in the state.
The Central team reached South 24 Parganas after a meeting with the Governor. Walking through the entire area of โโBajbaj and Satgachia here, the families of the violence affected people have met. The team took photographs of damaged shops and houses at many places. There was silence all over the area.
Meanwhile, many women expressed their pain to the members of the central team. During the meeting, they told that they are unable to go to their houses due to fear. These women have also filed complaints regarding the role of the police.
At the behest of the central team, the families of the victims and the people of the area have written the names of the members whom the police and Trinamool Congress (TMC) people have taken away from their homes and there is no news of their discovery so far.
However, many BJP workers also expressed displeasure and complained that you people (Central Team) have come after three days. After all, what crime have we done by supporting the BJP?
The Home Ministry team has noted all the complaints and preparations are being made to submit its report.
In fact, a four-member team led by Gautam Mohan, Additional Secretary of the Union Home Ministry reached Kolkata on Thursday.
Apart from the BJP delegation, the team members stationed at the BSF headquarters had a meeting with the state chief secretary, home secretary and director general of police at the state secretariat. After which they met the family of violence affected BJP workers in North 24 Parganas.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also accepted that 16 people have been killed in Bengal after the election results.
However, she claimed that half of them were activists of his party Trinamool Congress and half of BJP.
