Lucknow, 09 June: The Wazirganj police arrested six accused allegedly involved in black marketing of life-saving drugs ‘Remdesivir’ and liposomal Amphotericin B injection for patients of corona and black fungus, police said.
Out of these three accused, one is a doctor in Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, while other two are contract workers in King George’s Medical University (KGMU).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Rajesh Kumar Srivastava said that on the basis of an input, Wazirganj police station in-charge Dhananjay Kumar Pandey has nabbed six culprits from near Rafaam Club.
“During an interrogation, these arrested people have told their names as Mohammad Rakib, Mohammad Arif, Mohammad Imran, Rajesh Kumar Singh, Dr Wamik Hussain, and Balveer Singh, residents of Indiranagar. From them, the police have recovered 28 injections of liposomal amphotericin for black fungus patients, 18 remdesivir for corona patients, car and other things,” told Srivastava.
DCP West said that among the arrested accused, Vamik is an MBBS doctor in RML Emergency Medicine Department. Mo.Arif is a recruited as contractual ward boy in KGMU whereas Mo. Imran is a technician on contract basis at KGMU, Balveer is a pharmacist in a hospital situated at Chinhat and other staffs are connected to the medical line.
He told that all the accused used to sell the injections given to the patients during this pandemic at exorbitant prices. These accused are being sent to jail after registering a case under the Epidemic Act. The Police Commissioner DK Thakur has announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for the team that made the arrest of these accused.
