Lucknow, June 20: The distribution of free ration by the Yogi government to 14.81 crore beneficiaries for three months started from Sunday.
The state government is doling out ration to the poor and destitute people through 80 thousand kotdars. At the same time, ration is being distributed to the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). That too will continue as before.
In such a situation, this is the biggest campaign of its kind for distribution of free ration on such a huge scale. The Chief Minister has given instructions to distribute ration from government ration shops under the token system by following the Covid protocol.
It is worth mentioning that ration will be distributed by the state government to Antyodaya and eligible household ration card holders till June 30.
Apart from this, free ration will also be given in July and August. At the same time, three kg of sugar will also be given to Antyodaya card holders at the lowest rate. Antyodaya card holders will be given 35 kg ration (20 kg wheat and 15 kg rice) and 5 kg ration per unit (3 kg wheat and 2 kg rice) on units linked to eligible household ration cards.
At the same time, under the PMGKAY, ration will be given to the beneficiaries free of cost till November.
A spokesman of the state government said that total ration is to be distributed to about 14.81 crore beneficiaries including Antyodaya ration card holder 1, 30, 7, 969 and eligible household ration card holder 13, 41, 77, 983. With this scheme, daily wage labourers, street shopkeepers, and hundreds of people engaged in handcarts will get a big relief.
Apart from this, the ration distribution is being done in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. It will continue as before.
Token system will be applicable on shops
He said that under the Covid protocol, a token system would be implemented during the distribution of ration at fair price shops. In this, only five consumers will be present in the shop at a time. To maintain social distancing, a distance of two yards will be maintained between two consumers.
At the same time, sanitizers, soap and water will have to be kept compulsorily at the shops during distribution through e-POS. Only after its use, the consumer will use the e pos machine.
