Lucknow, August 24: Now there is a plan to produce the next generation of BrahMos missile in the capital Lucknow. The state government will provide land and other facilities for this. The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the BrahMos Aerospace Limted (BAL), Dr Sudhir Kumar Mishra also met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence on Tuesday regarding the project.
During this, the Chief Executive Officer of BrahMos Aerospace informed Chief Minister Yogi about the current activities of the BrahMos project. He said that under the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor, there is a plan to produce the next generation missile of BrahMos in Lucknow.
Welcoming this initiative of DRDO, Ministry of Defense, Chief Minister Yogi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. He said that the state government would provide all other facilities including the land required for this project in Lucknow.
Additional Chief Secretary Home and Chief Executive Officer of UPEIDA Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Principal Secretary Chief Minister and Information Sanjay Prasad and District Magistrate (DM) Lucknow Abhishek Prakash were present on the occasion.
A state government spokesperson said that the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile is being designed, developed and produced by BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between DRDO, Government of India and NPOM, Government of Russia. It is currently being used by the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.
About 200 acres of land will be required for the project.
The spokesman said that about 200 acres of land would be required for the production of next generation missile of BrahMos. An amount of about Rs 300 crore will be invested to complete this project. Civil construction work will be started within three months after the land becomes available. Through this project, about 500 engineers and technicians will get direct employment and 5,000 people will get indirect employment. Ancillary units will also be set up to plan the production of next generation missiles of BrahMos. Through these, about 10,000 people will get employment.
UP is now fast moving towards becoming an aerospace and defense hub
With the development of BrahMos missile in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh will move fast towards becoming the country’s aerospace and defense hub. Lucknow will be established on the global map in the manufacturing sector. This project will give impetus to the Defense Corridor. More than 200 industrial units involved in manufacturing of various systems and sub-systems of BrahMos missile will also move towards setting up their production units near the project.
