Section 144 to remain in force in Lucknow till October 15

Lucknow, 04 September: In view of the upcoming festivals Ganesh Chaturthi, Vishwakarma Puja, Anant Chaturdashi, Chehallum and Gandhi Jayanti and various entrance examinations to be conducted in the state; Section 144 will remain in force in the capital Lucknow till October 15.

According to the order issued by Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Piyush Mordia on Saturday, Section 144 has been imposed to maintain peace and order in Lucknow between the upcoming festivals and the fast-moving farmers’ movement and various protesters.

There will be a ban on all types of processions

According to the order issued by the Joint Commissioner of Police, following Section 144, no procession will take place in the city, nor will 5 or more than five persons gather at one place. Except for the Containment Zone, only the prescribed number of people i.e. 50 percent will be present at all the places exempted by the government till a certain time limit. Along with this, no sound amplifying devices will be used in any religious place, public place, processions or events from 10 pm to 6 am. In unavoidable circumstances, permission will have to be taken from the Deputy Commissioner, Joint Commissioner of Police or Commissioner of Police.

There is a complete ban on putting up poster banners

Except the policemen and paramilitary forces on duty within the limits of the Commissionerate, no person will carry sticks, sticks, sharp weapons, sharp knives, flaming substances, hand weapons etc. (This part of the order will apply to all common people except blind and handicapped persons and people of Sikh religion who have kirpan).

Meanwhile, insulting one’s religious texts or putting up any kind of poster banners at religious places and other places will also be completely banned.

Legal action will be taken on indecency with government employee

In the order issued, it has been said that action will be taken in case of any kind of indecency from any policeman, police officer, health worker, employee of Municipal Corporation and Health Department or sweeper etc. posted on duty within the limits of the Commissionerate. There will be a ban on all types of events in the Containment Zone. Failure to do so will result in legal action being taken for violation of Epidemic Act, Disaster Management Act, Lockdown and Section 144.

Action will be taken against those spreading rumours on social media

It has been said that through social media any person transmits any such rumour or information through oral, written or electronic means. If any community or religion is hurt or peace is disturbed, legal action will be taken in such a situation. Along with this, following the corona protocol between marriages or other ceremony programs, a distance of two yards will have to be followed with the prescribed number, use of masks, sanitizers.
