Lucknow, 07 September: In order to promote Sanskrit language in Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi started scholarship scheme on one hand and rejuvenated Sanskrit schools on other hand.
In the financial year 2019-20, 35 lakh 59 thousand scholarship funds have been transferred to the accounts of 731 meritorious students studying in schools recognized by the Board of Secondary Sanskrit Education. A total of 744 students have been given scholarships this year in 2020-21 whereas in 2021-22, a scholarship of Rs 42 lakh will be given to meritorious Sanskrit students, a spokesperson of the state government gave this information on Tuesday.
The spokesman said that the Yogi government has not only respected the Sanskrit language, which was lagging behind in the previous governments, but has also enhanced its value. The state government also digitized Sanskrit schools to promote Sanskrit education on modern lines. Modern equipment was provided by the state government to 72 residential Sanskrit schools and colleges recognized by the UP Sanskrit Shiksha Parishad.
βAt the same time, Sanskrit classes were also conducted by computer in 35 residential Sanskrit higher level secondary schools recognized by the UP Board of Secondary Sanskrit Education. Soon, preparations are being made to conduct e-learning of the courses of Sanskrit schools. This will benefit more than 60 thousand students of 1100 Sanskrit Secondary Schools located in the state,β he said.
The spokesperson told that the Yogi government, which is working with the aim of informing the importance of Sanskrit language in all sections of the state and adding new students, is fulfilling its resolve. During the last four and a half years, the Yogi government has given many gifts to the Sanskrit lovers. Under which 3000 new books were purchased for the library of Sanskrit Sansthan of UP in the year 2019-20, which is benefitting the students doing research in Sanskrit. Along with this, about 10 thousand people have downloaded the Sandarsika app on Google Play Store so far.
Free coaching for civil services in Sanskrit
He further apprised that free coaching for civil services in Sanskrit literature is being given in UP. For the promotion of Sanskrit language, candidates are being encouraged to make Sanskrit the main subject. Not only this, efforts are on to increase the Sanskrit language in the administrative services as well.
βOn behalf of the Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Sansthan, the preparation for the Civil Services from preliminary examination to interview is done in the free coaching and guidance program in Sanskrit literature. In this, grammar, philology, philosophy, epics, Sanskrit theatrics, Sanskrit prose and poetry, etc., are taught by the experts. All categories of candidates in the age group of 21 to 35 years who have passed graduation or equivalent examination from a UGC recognized university can be eligible for this exam,β he added.
