New Delhi, 01 October: British Nationals coming to India will be required to have a Covid test report of RTPCR and 10 days of ‘isolation’ from October 4, despite being fully vaccinated under the new Covid guidelines.
However, this is being done due to the UK not recognizing the certificate given under the Indian Vaccination Program.
According to sources, India has decided to implement the rules in response to British nationals coming here from Britain. The new rules will come into effect from October 04. British citizens will now be required to have a ‘negative’ Covid RTPCR test report 72 hours before their arrival in India.
Even after reaching here, this test will have to be done and the test will have to be done on the eighth day of arrival. Apart from this, they will have to live in compulsory segregation for 10 days in their home and where they are living.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Civil Aviation will ensure compliance of the rules.
It is noteworthy that Britain has recently made rules related to recognition of vaccination. In this, it is not recognizing AstraZeneca’s certificate related to Covishield made in India. Under this, the rules related to Covid testing and isolation is applicable to Indians from October 1.
