SRINAGAR, October 13: Days after the killing of civilians belonging to the Hindu and Sikh communities in Kashmir valley, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested four Overground Workers (OGWs) of different terrorist organizations from different areas of Srinagar district.
An NIA spokesperson said on Wednesday that the accused Waseem Ahmed Sofi residents of Chattabal Srinagar, Tariq Ahmed Dar Shergarhi Srinagar, Bilal Ahmed Mir alias Bilal Fufu, Parimpora Srinagar and Tariq Ahmed Bafanda Rajouri Kadal Srinagar were on Tuesday arrested in Srinagar, Pulwama and Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar.
However, the arrests were made during raids at 16 different places in Shopian districts.
He further informed that the cases registered on October 10 in which two teachers of Sikh and Hindu minority community were shot dead inside the school premises. Earlier, Kashmiri Pandit chemist Makhan Lal Bindroo and a non-local vendor from Bihar, Virender Paswan, were also shot dead in Srinagar while Mohammad Shafi Lone, president of the local cab drivers union, was shot dead at Naidkhai in Shahgund Hajin area of โโBandipora district. These raids are being conducted in connection with these matters.
Terrorists and their allies (OGWs) belonging to various terrorist organizations, including cadres of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Al Badr and the Resistance Front (TRF) etc. They are conspiring with their masters and commanders based in the neighbouring country.
The spokesman said that with the aim of recruiting and training the local youth by giving them arms, ammunition and explosives, they are being included in terrorist organizations to radicalise them. These terrorist organizations and their respective cadres have carried out many terrorist acts including killing of innocent civilians and security personnel and have spread terror in the Valley of Kashmir.
According to the spokesman, several electronic devices, jihadi documents, records of suspicious financial transactions were seized during the searches conducted yesterday.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused and other persons are terrorist associates (OGWs) of various banned terrorist organizations and are providing logistical and material assistance to the terrorists in their nefarious designs. Further investigation is on in the matter.
