Patna, 01 November: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Monday announced the punishment of nine convicts in the bomb blast case that took place during the Hunkar rally in the historic Gandhi Maidan in Bihar’s capital Patna in the year 2013.
In the bomb blast case, the court has sentenced four convicts to death, two to life imprisonment, two to ten years and one to seven years.
Special Judge of NIA Court Gurvinder Singh Malhotra was heard in the court on the point of punishment.
The Court has sentenced Imtiaz Ansari, Haider Ali alias Black Beauty, Noman Ansari and Mujibullah Ansari to death in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan blast case. Umar Siddiqui and Azharuddin have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Ahmed Hussain and Firoz Aslam were sentenced to 10 years each and Iftekhar Alam was sentenced to 7 years.
The serial bomb blasts at Gandhi Maidan and Patna Junction took place on October 27, 2013. In this incident 6 people were killed and 89 people were injured.
After eight years, the sentence has been announced in this case. The main six accused were convicted under sections of sedition, criminal conspiracy, murder, attempt to murder, UAPA Act. The other three were found guilty. One was acquitted by the court for lack of evidence.
It is noteworthy that after this serial bomb blasts in the year 2013, the NIA got the responsibility of probing.
