New Delhi, 19 November: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced the withdrawal of all three new agricultural laws and appealed to the agitating farmers to return home.

He said that the constitutional process of scrapping all the three farms laws would be completed in the winter session of Parliament starting from November 29.

Addressing the nation through video conferencing, Prime Minister Modi greeted the people on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. He also expressed happiness that the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor has now reopened after a gap of one and a half years.

Describing agriculture development and farmers welfare as the top priority of the government, Prime Minister Modi said that in my public life of five decades, I have seen the challenges of farmers very closely, so when I got the opportunity to serve the country as Prime Minister in 2014 If given, we have given top priority to agricultural development and farmers welfare.

In his address to the Nation, the Prime Minister said that our government had brought this law with a noble intention for the welfare of farmers, especially for the welfare of small farmers, for the bright future of the village poor. But, in spite of all our efforts, we could not explain to them such a sacred, completely pure and beneficial thing.

During this, Prime Minister Modi also said that many farmers and many farmer organizations in every nook and corner of the country had welcomed and supported these laws. I am very grateful to all of them today.

He further said, โ€œFor years this demand was continuously being made by the farmers, agricultural experts, farmers’ organizations of the country. Earlier also many governments had brainstormed on this. This time also there was a discussion in the Parliament. There was churn and these laws were brought. Agricultural economists, scientists, progressive farmers also tried their best to make the farmers understand the importance of agricultural laws. But, despite our efforts, we could not explain to them the matter of so pure, completely pure and the interest of the farmers.

In his address to the Nation, Prime Minister Modi said that three agricultural laws were brought in the grand campaign to improve the condition of farmers. The motive was that the farmers of the country, especially the small farmers, should get more power. They got the right price for their produce and maximum options to sell the produce. For years, this demand was constantly being made by the farmers, agricultural experts and farmers’ organizations of the country.

Referring to the efforts to strengthen agriculture and empower small farmers in the country, the Prime Minister said that to overcome the challenges of small farmers of the country, our government did all-round work on seeds, insurance, market and savings. Along with good quality seeds, the government has also connected the farmers with facilities like โ€˜neemโ€™ coated urea, soil health card, micro irrigation.

During this, Modi stated that it is very pleasant that after a gap of one and a half years, the Kartarpur Sabih Corridor has now reopened. He also extended warm greetings to all the countrymen on the holy festival of light of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
