Balrampur, 05 December: After 44 years, the work of the much-awaited Saryu canal project has been completed, which Prime Minister Modi will dedicate to the people of the state on December 11.
Meanwhile, wave of happiness among the farmers of the city is noticeable. About 25 lakh farmers will get direct benefit from this canal project connecting nine districts. At the same time, this project will also be helpful during floods.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate this project made at a cost of 9,802 crores to the public on December 11 after reaching Hasunwadol situated in the district. The district administration is busy preparing for the arrival of the Prime Minister.
This irrigation project hanging since 1978
It is worth mentioning that launched in the year 1978 to benefit the farmers of two districts; this scheme was expanded in the year 1982 and expanded to nine districts by the immediate government of Uttar Pradesh. In the year 2012, while expanding this canal project by the then government, the status of a nationalized project was granted. But due to the neglect of the previous governments, the project remained in limbo.
Central government started work on priority from the year 2018
In order to double the income of farmers, the Narendra Modi government has given priority to this scheme related to irrigation project, connecting nine districts, in which about 25 lakh farmers will get the benefit of irrigation.
Giving priority to this scheme, work started expeditiously from the year 2018. The project is almost ready now. On December 11, the Prime Minister will dedicate this scheme to the country after reaching Balrampur.
Farmers of these districts will get benefit
Gonda, Balrampur, Basti, Siddharth Nagar, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Shravasti, Maharajganj and Siddharthnagar districts of Uttar Pradesh have been linked to this scheme. About 25 lakh farmers of these districts will be benefitted.
Now the problem of irrigation will end
Tulsipur resident farmers Laldev Pathak, Radheshyam Morya, Sohanlal, Omkar Gupta, and Ram Prasad Singh told that due to the hard area here, irrigation was dependent on nature only. With the completion of the canal, the problem of irrigation has ended. Been hearing about this irrigation scheme for decades. But now this government has completed it in the interest of farmers.
