New Delhi, 22 December: The risk of new variant of the coronavirus, Omicron, is on the rise. In view of this, the demand for administering booster dose has started rising in the country.
However, in the midst of vaccination, no decision has been taken regarding the booster dose in the country yet.
On Wednesday, Dr VK Paul, Member (Health) of NITI Aayog, made it clear that the need and timing of booster dose in this regard will be decided on a scientific basis.
Dr Paul said on Wednesday that the new cases of Covid-19 in the country and any changes are being monitored from the level of the government.
Regarding the need and appropriate time to give booster dose of corona vaccine, he said that the decision in this regard would be on scientific basis. The top government health official also said that the symptoms of corona are always mild in the initial stages.
It is noteworthy that former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has questioned the Central government regarding the booster dose on Wednesday.
Sharing a chart of vaccination data, he tweeted, “The majority of the population is yet to be vaccinated. When will the government start giving booster doses?
On the other hand, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also requested the Central government on Monday to allow a booster dose for those who have taken both the doses.
