Varanasi, 23 December: Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointed out on Thursday that some people have made it a crime to talk about cow and cow dung and money, while the livelihood of eight crore families of the country are run by such livestock.

The Prime Minister was speaking while addressing a public meeting in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating all the projects worth Rs 2,095 crore.

He said that people who make fun of cow and buffalo forget that the livelihood of eight crore families of the country is run by such livestock.

In this sequence, he said that the cow may be a crime for some people, but the cow is our mother and is revered for us.

He further said, “Strengthening the dairy sector of India is one of the priorities of our government. Taking a step forward in this direction, the foundation stone of ‘Banas Kashi Sankul’ has been laid here. I firmly believe that the new energy in the dairy sector, animal husbandry, white revolution of the country can play a huge role in changing the condition of the farmers.

He said that animal husbandry is a great way for the economic upliftment of women and to further their entrepreneurship. Referring to the vaccination campaign for animals, the Prime Minister said, “We have launched a nationwide vaccination campaign against various diseases in animals.”

Talking about the cultural importance of animals in his address, the Prime Minister said that “cows should be around me and I should be around cows, it has been said in our scriptures and culture.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today Kashi and the entire surrounding area has once again become special for the entire country and the villages, farmers and livestock farmers of Uttar Pradesh with a big program.

During his speech, he also remembered former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.

The government claims that the foundation stone of ‘Banas Dairy Sankul’ will prove to be effective to strengthen the rural economy and help the farmers of the area.

In this sequence, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 22 development projects totalling more than Rs 870 crore. These projects cover a wide range of sectors including urban development, health, education, road construction and tourism. It is being said that these projects will further accelerate the overall development of Varanasi.

Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi distributed rural housing rights record ‘Gharauni’ to more than 20 lakh residents of the state.
