Lucknow, December 28: According to the data of National Family Health Survey-5, UP has performed much better in terms of improving health facilities. At the same time, the UP ranks first in the Delta ranking of the NITI Aayog.
The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has said that there has been a lot of improvement in UP in terms of sex ratio, infant mortality rate, increase in medical colleges. In the health index, UP has been successful in achieving 5.52 in developing performance. Assam is second and Telangana third in the delta ranking.
A spokesperson of the state government apprised on Tuesday that health services have improved rapidly during the tenure of the Yogi government as compared to the previous governments.
He said that the data of National Family Health Survey-5 and NITI Aayog’s health index are giving its testimony. UP, the most populous state is number one in terms of reforms.
โAccording to the data released in the National Family Health Survey-5, the rate of infection in children has come down as compared to earlier and the death rate in the newborn has also come down,โ he added.
9.94 percent drop in neonatal mortality
The spokesman said that after the year 2017, a lot of positive changes has been witnessed in the condition of newborns in the state. According to the report of National Family Health Survey-5 for the year 2020-2021, UP has improved more than the national level. In UP, the Neonatal Mortality Rate (NNMR) in rural and urban areas was 45.1 percent in 2015-2016 and 35.7 percent in 2020-2021. In such a situation, a decline of 9.94 percent has been registered in the neonatal mortality rate.
He said, there has also been a significant improvement in the figures released for the mortality rate of newborns (per one thousand) of children born at one year or less and the rate of death in less than five years.
The rate of infection among children declined by 9.4
He said that before the year 2017, the infection rate among children was 15 percent, which is now 5.6 percent. A decline of 9.4 was recorded in the infection rate of children under the Yogi government. The infant mortality rate (IMR) in UP is currently 50.4 percent, while it was 63.5 percent earlier.
He informed further that, the infant mortality rate within five years is 59.8 percent whereas before the Yogi government, it was 78.1 percent. Before the year 2017 in the state, where thousands of children used to die due to infection, but due to the golden schemes of the state government, the condition of the children of the state has improved.
Simultaneous direct recruitment of doctors
According to the official spokesperson, more than 1000 specialist doctors were directly recruited in UP. A transparent counselling session was organized for 400 specialist doctors by the department, in which they were given the opportunity to choose their own place of posting voluntarily. In this session held in November, more than 300 specialist doctors participated and selected their place of posting.
