Mumbai, December 28: The statement of a witness has taken a new turn during the hearing of Malegaon bomb blast case in NIA court.
The witness told the court that he was harassed by the Maharashtra ATS for naming 5 RSS leaders including the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The witness said that he was kept in his office by the ATS for 7 consecutive days and threatened to implicate him in another case.
The Malegaon bomb blast case was being heard in a special court in Mumbai on Tuesday. The 15th witness in the case told the court that the ATS had harassed him for naming RSS-affiliated leaders like Yogi Adityanath, Indresh Kumar, Deodhar and Kakaji in this case.
Earlier, the witness who testified against Lt Col Purohit in this case has also turned hostile. That witness told the court in August that he was pressurized to implicate the colonel.
So far 220 people have testified in this case and BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh, retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay, Ajay Rahirwar, Sudhakar Dwivedi, Sameer Kulkarni etc. have been made accused. All these people are currently out on bail.
It is noteworthy that on September 29, 2008 6 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in a bomb blast near a mosque in Malegaon.
