New Delhi, 5 January: A 6.3 fold increase in corona cases has been registered across the country in the last eight days.

In a press conference organized by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, Joint Secretary Luv Aggarwal said that on December 29, there was a 0.79 times increase in corona cases, but on January 5, it has raised to 6.3 times. It is clear that now the cases of corona in the country have started increasing rapidly and this number will increase further and faster. Therefore people should avoid going to crowded places.

He said that the weekly infection rate in 28 districts of the country is over 10 percent, which is a matter of concern. These districts are from Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Gujarat.

Lav Aggarwal said that the weekly corona infection rate in 43 districts is between 5-10 percent.
