Relief to UP farmers: 50% rebate in electricity bill of farmers in UP

Lucknow, 06 January: The Yogi Adityanath government of the state has made a big announcement for the farmers. The Chief Minister has announced a 50 percent rebate in the electricity bill of the farmers.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) gave this information. This exemption will be applicable to the tube wells of farmers coming in both rural and urban areas. This announcement of the government is being seen as a big relief for the farmers.

On Thursday, it was told from the Twitter handle of the CMOโ€™s that Chief Minister Adityanath, determined for the convenience and prosperity of the farmers, has decided to give 50 percent rebate in electricity rates for private tube wells relative to the current rates. At present, farmers with metered connections in rural areas are being given electricity at Rs 2 per unit. Such farmers will now have to pay electricity bill at the rate of only Re 1 per unit.

At the same time, on the basis of per horse power, a fixed charge of Rs 70 per month has to be paid. In this also the government has cut 50 percent. Farmers will have to pay only Rs 35. Along with this, electricity of tubewells coming in urban areas is being charged from farmers at Rs.6 per unit at present. The government has also reduced this to Rs 3 per unit. At the same time, the fixed charge per horse power has been reduced from Rs 130 per month to Rs 65.
