Lucknow: Transport Dept sets 12 safety standards for school vehicles, warns for stringent actions

Lucknow, January 27: The Transport Department has fixed twelve safety standards for school vehicles plying in the capital Lucknow. Action will be taken against school vehicles plying on the road without meeting these standards. Guidelines have been issued for this.

The Transport Department has set about 12 safety standards for the safety of children in school vehicles. Despite this, a large number of school vehicles have not been fit in the entire state including Lucknow. Hundreds of school vehicles are carrying children without a fitness certificate even after notices were sent to the vehicle owners. The Transport Department has alerted the parents and asked them not to send the children to school without fitness vehicles.

Deputy Transport Commissioner Nirmal Prasad has issued guidelines for Lucknow division.

According to this, school vehicles which do not meet the prescribed safety standards should not be brought on the road. The safety standards set include vehicle registration, pollution and insurance certificate, fitness certificate, fire extinguisher, GPS and speed governor in the vehicle, CCTV camera, speed control device, children should be seated according to the prescribed seating capacity.

Apart from this, it is necessary to register the driving license of the driver, police verification of the driver, mobile number and police helpline number on the vehicle. Along with this, now it is also necessary for the driver to take both the doses of corona vaccine. If school vehicles are operating without these safety standards, a complaint can be made at the regional level immediately.
