Lucknow, January 28: The Chief Election Officer of Uttar Pradesh Ajay Kumar Shukla said on Friday that a total of 65,99,088 publicity materials have been removed from public and private places so far in order to ensure the model code of conduct implemented across the state in the context of the 2022 assembly elections. Publicity material has been removed from 49, 47,613 places and 16, 51,475 from private places.
He told that till now action has been taken in 15, 83,289 and 7, 98,094 other cases of 3, 54,357 posters of wall writing, 22, 11,873 banners from public places. Similarly, action was taken in 4, 67,339 of 7, 36,097 banners and 2, 89,458 other cases of 1, 58,581 posters of wall writing from private places.
State’s Election Chief said that the model code of conduct has been effectively implemented in the state for free, fair, peaceful, inclusive and safe voting. In this context, action is being taken by the Police, Income Tax, Excise, Narcotics and other departments.
He further stated so far 7, 78,213 licensed arms have been deposited by the police department. So far 472 licenses have been confiscated and 1337 licenses have been cancelled. Similarly, 27, 71,933 people have been arrested while taking preventive action under CrPC.
Shukla said that so far 471 FIRs have been registered under various sections for violation of model code of conduct, out of which 49 FIRs were registered on Friday under different sections. Apart from this, 6424 arms, 6689 cartridges, 214 explosives and 180 bombs have been recovered by the police department so far. 110 factories making illegal weapons were seized by the police department by putting red.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that so far 7, 04,202 liters of liquor worth about Rs 16 crore have been seized by the Excise and Police Department. Apart from this, cash of more than Rs 18.85 crore has been recovered so far in the action of Police Department and Income Tax Department, out of which cash of about Rs 65.38 lakh has been recovered on Friday.
“Similarly, 6991 kg drugs worth more than Rs 25.53 crore have been seized so far by the Narcotics and Police Department, out of which 143.48 kg drugs worth more than Rs 48.41 lakh were seized today. Along with this, 86.76 kg of precious metals worth Rs 95.96 lakh have also been recovered by the police department so far,” he concluded.
