New Delhi, 29 January: Expressing happiness over the operation of goods train up to Rani Gaidinliu Railway Station in Tamenglong, Manipur, after 75 years of independence, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the turnaround of the Northeast is on.
Prime Minister Modi on Saturday reacted to the tweet of Union Minister of State for North Eastern Affairs G Kishan Reddy and said that the turnaround of the Northeast is on.
He said that connectivity of Manipur would be increased and commerce would be promoted. The wonderful products of the state can be shipped all over the country.
Earlier, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy shared the video of the goods train arriving at Rani Gaidinliu Railway Station in Manipur and tweeted, “Historic day for Manipur and entire northeast, 75 years after India’s independence, first freight train Rani in Tamenglong, Manipur. Gaidinliu railway station has arrived. The Narendra Modi government is committed to enhancing infrastructure connectivity and economic prosperity in the NER.
With the efforts of the Central Government to increase rail connectivity in the northeastern states, now the goods train operation has started till Rani Gaidinliu Railway Station in Manipur. Formerly it was known as Kaimai Road Railway Station.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced to connect the capital of the Northeastern states with other parts of the country through the ramparts of the Red Fort. Most of the capitals of the Northeast will be connected by rail before 2024. Work is underway on six projects under the National Capital Connectivity Projects. Out of these, five projects are targeted to be completed before 2024 while one project will be completed by 2026.
