Ban on plastic: Complete ban on single use plastic from July 1, Centre issues guidelines

New Delhi, February 18: Single use plastic will be completely banned in the country from July 1. The Union Forest and Environment Ministry has notified the detailed guidelines prepared in this regard on Friday.

On Friday, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav tweeted that the guidelines will provide a roadmap for businesses to move towards sustainable plastic packaging while promoting the development of new plastic alternatives.

The responsibility of implementing these guidelines will be on the State Pollution Control Committee. Strict action will be taken against people using single use plastic from July 1. This includes everything from plastic flags to ear buds. With this, single use plastic will be completely banned in packaging material.

These things will be banned

Plastic stick ear buds, plastic sticks for balloons, plastic flags, candy sticks, ice cream sticks, thermocol used for decoration, plastic cups, plates, glasses, forks, spoons, knives, straws, trays, sweet boxes plastics, plastic invitation cards and PVC banners with a thickness of less than 100 microns, etc.
